Thousands of accounts of seven-foot and
taller skeletons have reportedly been unearthed from ancient burial sites over
a two-hundred-year period in North America. Newspaper accounts, town and county
histories, letters, scientific journals, diaries, photos and Smithsonian
ethnology reports have carefully documented this. These skeletons have been
reported from coast to coast with strange anatomic anomalies such as double
rows of teeth, jawbones so large as to be fit over the face of the finder, and
elongated skulls, documented in virtually every state. Over the next few posts
I am going to share my thoughts and my findings on the Giants of the Midwest. I
hope you enjoy our continued Journey into the unknown and mysterious.
During the 1800’s
the Midwest of the United States was transforming. Gone were the protected
territories and in their place began to spring up states. Ohio 1803, Indiana 1816, Illinois 1818, Missouri
1821, Michigan 1837, Iowa 1846, Wisconsin 1848, Minnesota 1858, etc. Not only
were the borders of a new nation changing the landscapes within the states
themselves were changing. Millions of immigrants from Europe, mostly of
Germanic or Scandinavian decent flooded the plush green fields with farms and
industry. As the new American’s began to build but more importantly dig into
their new soil preparing homesteads and farms they began to find stranger and
stranger things. Things as in ancient artifacts and skeletons. The Midwest was
peppered with large mounds built by ancient Native cultures to bury their dead.
The newly arrived Europeans who had no respect for the beliefs of heathens and
barbarians tore into these burial mounds with a gusto only American’s propelled
by greed could show. Farmers turned into
fortune hunters, as hundreds if not thousands of mounds were either sacked for
their goods, destroyed to make way for farms or excavated by archeologists to
attempt to preserve some before they were all gone. Thousands of burials were desecrated
while the skeletons and millions of artifacts found inside them were sold,
destroyed, lost or given to a college or university while tens of thousands of
years were being utterly demolished from the history books. Although this in itself would make for an
interesting blog post I am taking it one step further. I am going to look at
the skeletons that were found, more over the GIANT skeletons that were found.
Hundreds of skeletons measuring anywhere from six and a half feet to ten feet
tall were discovered in many of these burial mounds. Most were in decent shape
and even showed signs of having red or blonde hair and a disturbing amount of
them had double rows of teeth! A great many of these mounds were investigated
and documented by well known Universities and archaeologists, some by the Smithsonian
itself. Smithsonian scientists identified at least 17 skeletons that stood at
over seven feet in their annual reports, including one example that was 8 feet
tall, and a skull with a 36-inch circumference reported from Anna, Illinois in
the Smithsonian Annual Report of 1873, (an average human skull is about 20
inches in circumference). The Smithsonian Institution is mentioned dozens more
times as the recipient of enormous skeletons from across the entire United
States. By the 1890’s giant skeletons had been recorded in every state and a
scattered few were even displayed in local museums and even store fronts.
Findings were still happening well into the 1950’s but the Smithsonian had
changed its tune by then and declared all the giant skeletons hoaxes or frauds.
The skeletons mentioned no longer seem to exist regardless of their actual
size, and the remaining ones that were on display were removed and repatriated
by NAGPRA (Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act). Regardless
of what the Institute knew or did about it the fact remains that these giant
skeletons were real and they were everywhere. Over the next few posts I am
going to dive deeper into this phenomena going into the history of giants on
Earth following up with some recorded findings here in the Midwest. Although
this is a worldwide phenomenon I am going to focus on America, most importantly
the Midwest and the Mound Builder Giants and by the end of this multi part blog
I hope to have convinced at least a few of you that not only did a species of double
teethed Giants roam around North America they may have been the ones
responsible for mining the 500,000 pounds of Copper from the Upper Peninsula of
Michigan.
Until the next Chapter have a great day and as always...PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
